On Thursday, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced a significant event in support of Ukrainian military forces, as the capital's community delivered 3,000 various types of drones to the soldiers of the 12th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This delivery underscores Kyiv's ongoing efforts to equip the military with modern technologies for effective combat on the front lines.
Among the 3,000 drones, 1,500 are FPV (First Person View) drones, 1,000 are fiber-optic drones, and 500 are interceptor drones designed to counter enemy attacks, particularly from Shahed drones. Klitschko noted that this assistance is part of the capital community's continuous efforts to support Ukraine's defenders amid the ongoing war.
Furthermore, the mayor reminded that earlier this year, the military of the 12th Corps had already received 3,000 FPV drones and 200 Autel Evo night drones from Kyiv. This highlights the systematic approach of the Kyiv community in supporting the army, as over 44,500 drones of various types have already been delivered to soldiers from different brigades in the first three months of 2026.
Vitali Klitschko also reported that 100 million hryvnias have been allocated from the city budget for equipping the 12th Corps. These funds are directed towards providing the military with the necessary resources to carry out their tasks on the front lines. The mayor emphasized the importance of continuing such support and assured that the capital will continue to assist all defenders of Ukraine.
"The capital will continue to assist all our defenders! Both with community funds and non-budgetary money," Klitschko stressed, highlighting the importance of cooperation between local authorities and the military during this challenging time.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy by Ukraine aimed at strengthening the country's defense capabilities. Drones have become a crucial element of modern warfare, allowing for reconnaissance, artillery fire correction, and attacks on the enemy from a safe distance.
Thus, the transfer of drones to the 12th Corps is not only an act of support but also a vital step in equipping Ukrainian military personnel with modern technologies that can significantly impact the course of combat operations. The Kyiv community continues to demonstrate its commitment to the defense of the country by providing essential assistance to its defenders during this difficult time.
