Asian Countries Show Interest in Ukrainian Experience During Combat Operations – Foreign Ministry

During a briefing on April 8, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Georgiy Tikhiy highlighted the growing interest among Asian countries in Ukraine's experience and technological capabilities demonstrated during combat operations.

During a briefing held on April 8, Georgiy Tikhiy, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussed the increasing interest of Asian countries in Ukraine's experience and technological capabilities that have been showcased during ongoing combat operations. Tikhiy emphasized that this interest is not limited to Middle Eastern countries but spans a wide array of nations observing the situation in Ukraine.

“Regarding Asian countries, we are indeed witnessing a significant interest in Ukraine's experience and technological capabilities. This interest extends beyond just the states of the Middle East. Overall, the situation in the Gulf countries, where Ukraine has demonstrated its new role and subjectivity, has resonated in many other regions of the world. From Africa and Latin America to Asia, all are witnessing what Ukraine is capable of,” Tikhiy stated.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also reported that inquiries from Asian countries seeking to establish contacts with Ukraine are already coming in. He specifically mentioned invitations for Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha from several Asian nations. Tikhiy underscored that progress on this front can be expected in the coming weeks.

“Ukraine will enter into such agreements in the field of security with those countries that, of course, share our values, respect us, and we respect them. Naturally, this is a tool for external support,” he added, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with countries willing to support Ukraine in its aspirations.

Tikhiy paid particular attention to the topic of a potential visit to China. He noted that the parties are currently working on coordinating the dates for the visit of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister. “In our view, this visit, when it takes place, should become an important element in supporting the Ukrainian-Chinese dialogue. On the agenda of this visit would be, of course, a more active engagement of China in international efforts to halt the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against the people of Ukraine. Activating cooperation and practical collaboration between our countries in trade, economic, and humanitarian spheres,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson concluded.

It is worth recalling that on April 1, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine is currently actively cooperating with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Jordan, while also communicating with Bahrain, Kuwait, and Iraq regarding assistance in countering Iranian Shahed drones. This cooperation holds significant importance in the context of Ukraine's security and defense.

On March 28, Zelensky visited the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, where he announced the signing of a 10-year strategic cooperation agreement with Qatar, as well as the upcoming conclusion of a similar agreement with the Emirates. These agreements aim to strengthen bilateral relations and ensure mutual support across various sectors.

On March 29, the President discussed security issues with King Abdullah II of Jordan, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between countries to ensure stability in the region. On March 30, Zelensky reported that during negotiations with the leaders of Gulf states, agreements were reached on mutual assistance in defense and energy, including 10-year contracts, particularly concerning the supply of maritime drones. These initiatives reflect the activation of Ukraine's international cooperation in the face of modern challenges.
