Funds from the 'Health Screening 40+' Program to Return to State Budget if Unused - Lyashko

Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Lyashko highlighted key aspects of the 'Health Screening 40+' program during a television broadcast, emphasizing that any unused funds will revert to the state budget by the end of the fiscal year.

Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Lyashko recently discussed the significant elements of the 'Health Screening 40+' program during a television interview. He stated that if patients do not utilize the allocated funds for their health screenings, these funds will be returned to the state budget at the end of this fiscal year. Lyashko also emphasized that funding for the program will continue next year, as it is not a one-time initiative but rather a nationwide program aimed at improving the health of Ukrainians.

The 'Health Screening 40+' program provides Ukrainians with the opportunity to undergo screenings for cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and mental health issues. The minister highlighted that cardiovascular diseases are one of the leading causes of mortality in Ukraine, with data indicating that 80% of disability cases recorded in 2025 were related to these diseases.

Lyashko also noted that under this program, patients receive funds directly into their accounts from the government. They can choose a medical facility through the website of the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU), schedule a screening, and after completing the examination, use the allocated funds to pay for medical services.

It is important to remember that the 'Health Screening 40+' program launched in Ukraine on January 1, 2026. It aims to conduct basic screenings for the early detection of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and mental health disorders. This initiative represents a crucial step towards improving the overall health status of the population and reducing the incidence of these dangerous diseases.

To raise awareness among Ukrainians about this program and its benefits, the minister urged all citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to undergo screenings that could potentially save lives. Lyashko stressed that timely detection of health issues is a key factor in their successful treatment.
