Conflict with Military Recruitment Center in Ternopil: Victim Identified as a Soldier
A conflict in Ternopil has drawn public and law enforcement attention as military personnel attempted to conduct a notification on Sakharova Street, leading to an altercation involving a soldier.
A significant conflict occurred in Ternopil, capturing the attention of both the public and law enforcement agencies, as military personnel attempted to conduct a notification on Sakharova Street. This information was reported by the Ternopil Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCK SP) on its official Facebook account, as relayed by the Ukrinform news agency.
According to available information, a series of messages and video materials surfaced online, containing allegations of the alleged use of force by military personnel against one of the reservists. The TCK SP stated that on April 8, 2026, during notification activities, a joint group stopped a citizen for verification of his military registration documents.
During the interaction with the military personnel, the man began to exhibit aggressive behavior, resulting in him using a gas canister against them and attempting to flee. In the process of escaping, he lost his balance and sustained an injury. The military personnel, recognizing the seriousness of the situation, offered him medical assistance; however, the victim refused help.
Further investigation revealed that this citizen had been called up for military service on January 17, 2026, to one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine but was in a status of unauthorized absence from the unit. In light of these circumstances, the leadership of the regional TCK and SP initiated a review of the events that transpired, and a service investigation is currently underway.
In response to the incident, the regional police also took action. On Wednesday, April 8, the Ternopil District Police Department received a report from medical personnel that a 32-year-old resident of the regional center had been admitted to the hospital with bodily injuries. The preliminary diagnosis of the victim indicates a leg fracture, which he claims was sustained on Sakharova Street.
Details of this incident have been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for negligent infliction of serious or moderate bodily harm. Law enforcement officials continue to clarify all circumstances surrounding the event to determine exactly what transpired that day.
Additionally, as previously reported, police in Kyiv are investigating information regarding the beating of a veteran within the premises of the TCK. These events highlight the growing tension surrounding issues related to military service and the rights of servicemen, which require close attention from both society and government bodies.
