North Korea Launches Series of Ballistic Missiles in Just Hours
North Korea has launched a series of ballistic missiles within a few hours, as confirmed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) of South Korea. The details of these launches remain undisclosed, according to reports from the Yonhap news agency.
As reported by the Ukrinform news agency, North Korea executed a series of ballistic missile launches within a brief timeframe, a statement from the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) of South Korea confirmed. This information was corroborated by the Yonhap news agency, which noted that specific details regarding the launches have not yet been made public.
According to the JCS, the first launch was detected around 08:50 on Wednesday from the Wonsan area, where several short-range ballistic missiles were identified. This incident occurred just hours after South Korean military officials reported the detection of new launches.
Notably, on the previous day, Tuesday, the regime of Kim Jong-un attempted to conduct a launch of an 'unidentified projectile' eastward from Pyongyang; however, this launch was unsuccessful. According to KBS World, the projectile exhibited anomalies during its launch and was subsequently destroyed. This raised concerns that North Korea might conduct another missile test on Wednesday, following the failed launch the day before.
Military experts within the Committee believe that the 'defective' projectile, which failed to achieve a successful flight, was likely a ballistic missile. This indicates that North Korea continues to advance its missile programs despite international pressure and sanctions.
It is worth recalling that at the end of March this year, North Korea conducted tests of a high-thrust solid-fuel engine for missiles, which was personally overseen by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. These tests raised alarms within the international community as they signify progress in the development of Pyongyang's missile technology.
The situation on the Korean Peninsula remains tense, and such actions by North Korea could lead to further escalation of conflict. Observers believe that North Korea will continue its missile tests, aiming to showcase its military strength and ability to respond to external threats.
In light of this, the international community is closely monitoring developments on the Korean Peninsula, as any new provocations from North Korea could have serious implications for regional security.
