Sunny Bunny Film Festival Announces Dates

The State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema has officially announced the dates for the international Sunny Bunny film festival, dedicated to LGBTQIA+ themed films. Organizers have also unveiled a refreshed visual concept and opened submissions for a short film pitching event, which will play a significant role in this year's festival.

The State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema has announced the dates for the international Sunny Bunny film festival, which focuses on LGBTQIA+ themed films. This year's festival will also feature an updated visual identity and the commencement of submissions for a short film pitching event, marking an important addition to the festival's programming.

This year's festival branding centers around the image of the 'Sunny Bunny,' a symbol representing openness, movement, and presence that does not require permission. This imagery is intended to highlight the core values of the festival and its mission to support the LGBTQIA+ community.

For the third consecutive year, the festival will host a pitching event for short films related to LGBTQIA+ themes. Films of any format are welcome to participate, including narrative, documentary, animation, or experimental works. A key requirement for participation is that the films must have a runtime of up to 30 minutes and either be produced in Ukraine or be a co-production. It is crucial that the films are in the development stage or classified as work in progress.

Submissions for the pitching event will be accepted until April 10, with the pitching taking place on April 23. This presents an excellent opportunity for emerging directors and creators to showcase their ideas and projects, gain support, and find partners for the realization of their creative visions.

The State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema has also emphasized that the festival traditionally supports Ukrainian defenders. Specifically, members of the Ukrainian Defense Forces will have the opportunity to receive free passes to all festival events. This gesture is a significant show of support for those fighting for the country.

Sunny Bunny is an international film festival that was established in 2022 as an independent event. The festival evolved from a long-standing program of the Kyiv International Film Festival 'Molodist,' underscoring its significance and popularity among audiences.

Earlier, Ukrinform reported on the upcoming first Ukrainian Film Festival in Australia (UFFA), scheduled to take place from May 27 to 31 across several cities in the country. This is yet another important step in promoting Ukrainian cinema on the international stage.
