Cashback on Fuel: 1.3 Million Ukrainians Receive Compensation

A total of 1.3 million Ukrainians have benefitted from the state program Cashback on Fuel, receiving essential financial compensation during challenging times, as reported by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

The Cashback on Fuel program has been utilized by 1.3 million Ukrainians, who have already received corresponding compensations. This information was shared by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on her Telegram channel, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in supporting citizens during difficult times.

"So far, 1.3 million Ukrainians have taken advantage of the cashback on fuel. Under this program, Ukrainians receive compensation of 15% on diesel, 10% on gasoline, and 5% on autogas," Svyrydenko noted, highlighting that the program aims to alleviate the financial burden on drivers.

The Prime Minister also added that, based on current prices, this allows for savings of at least 2 UAH per liter of autogas and 11 UAH per liter of diesel. Overall, Ukrainians can receive up to 1,000 UAH in cashback per month, which is a significant support for many families.

While the Prime Minister did not provide specific figures regarding the total amount of compensations already disbursed to program participants, she mentioned that the received compensation can be spent on utility services, medications, locally produced food, books, or even donated to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Svyrydenko also reported that in total, 4.4 million Ukrainians are using the National Cashback program, and since the launch of the fuel cashback, over 200,000 new accounts have been opened in the National Cashback system. This indicates a strong interest and active participation of citizens in utilizing government initiatives.

The Cashback on Fuel program is operational from March 20 to May 1 as part of the National Cashback initiative. More than 150 gas station networks have already joined the program, ranging from large chains to local stations, making it accessible to a wide range of drivers.

Previously, Minister of Economy Oleksiy Sobolev denied claims that owners of expensive vehicles are massively utilizing the Cashback on Fuel program. He responded to statements made by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak from the Holos party, who alleged that "we are compensating the fuel tank of a Mercedes GLX or BMW X5 with taxpayers' money." This statement sparked some debate in society; however, the government continues to assert that the program is aimed at supporting all Ukrainians, regardless of their vehicle type.

Thus, the cashback on fuel is becoming an important tool for supporting Ukrainians during a challenging time when the economic situation remains tense, and fuel costs continue to rise.
