Kanye West to Headline Wireless Festival in London Amid Jewish Community Protests

American rapper Kanye West, known as Ye, has been announced as the headliner for the Wireless Festival in London this July, sparking significant protests from the Jewish community over his past antisemitic remarks.

American rapper Kanye West, who is also known by his stage name Ye, has been officially announced as the headliner for the Wireless Festival in London, set to take place in July this year. This decision by the festival organizers has triggered considerable backlash from the Jewish community, which has expressed outrage over the artist's antisemitic statements made in the past.

The announcement was made public on March 30 by the festival's press service. West is scheduled to lead the program each evening of the event, promising attendees a 'three-day journey through his most famous albums.' Notably, these performances will mark the artist's first appearances in the United Kingdom in over 11 years, adding significant weight to this event.

The Wireless Festival is organized by Festival Republic, a subsidiary of the American entertainment company Live Nation. The event will take place in one of London's most renowned areas, Finsbury Park, which will provide convenient access for the rapper's numerous fans.

However, despite Kanye West's popularity, his participation in the festival has sparked outrage from the Jewish community. A spokesperson for the Board of Jewish Leaders commented to The Guardian, labeling the organizers' decision as 'irresponsible.' According to him, the Jewish community in the United Kingdom is currently facing a record level of antisemitism, and providing a platform for West is unacceptable.

'West has repeatedly used his platform to spread antisemitism and pro-Nazi messages. His recent apologies should be viewed in the context of his continued sale of T-shirts featuring swastikas and the release of a song titled Heil Hitler following previous apologies. Any venue or festival should reconsider its decision before providing Kanye West with a platform to spread antisemitism,' he emphasized.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan also voiced his stance on the matter. In a statement made on April 1, he noted that West's previous comments and actions are 'offensive and wrong,' and do not reflect the values of the city. 'This decision was made by the festival organizers, not the mayor's office,' Khan added.

It is worth mentioning that in 2022, Adidas ended its partnership with Kanye West due to his antisemitic comments. In 2025, the rapper stated in a social media post that he considers himself a Nazi, a racist, and expressed his 'love' for Hitler. Additionally, he released a T-shirt featuring a swastika under his Yeezy brand and recorded the song Heil Hitler, which provoked even more public outrage.

Following these events, Australia banned Kanye West from entering the country. As for whether West will face a similar fate in the United Kingdom, a spokesperson for the Home Office told The Guardian: 'We generally do not comment on individual cases,' leaving the question open.

In January of this year, West purchased an advertisement in the print edition of The Wall Street Journal, where he published an open letter of apology. He explained his controversial behavior in 2025 as a result of experiencing a 'four-month manic episode of psychotic, paranoid, and impulsive behavior that ruined his life.' In 2023, he was diagnosed with Type I bipolar disorder.

According to West himself, he regrets using Nazi symbolism and stated that he does not consider himself a Nazi or an antisemite. However, his past actions and comments remain subjects of discussion and criticism, especially in the context of his upcoming performances at the Wireless Festival.
