Canada has confirmed its readiness to assist Ukrainian communities in preparing for the upcoming heating season, as well as in the restoration of the energy system and infrastructure.
Canada has confirmed its commitment to support Ukrainian communities in their preparations for the upcoming heating season and in the restoration of the energy system and infrastructure. This information was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine, as reported by Ukrinform.
During a meeting between Ukrainian representatives and a Canadian delegation, significant issues related to the implementation of the energy resilience plan for the regions were discussed. Particular emphasis was placed on preparing communities for the new challenges of the heating season, the restoration of transportation infrastructure, and programs within the housing sector.
The Ministry of Development noted that since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Government of Canada has allocated 115 million Canadian dollars for the restoration of Ukraine's energy system, as well as for support in the water supply and sewage sectors. These funds will contribute to strengthening energy security and improving living conditions for Ukrainians affected by the war.
The Canadian delegation also received recognition for its leadership in the Transport Interests Group in Ukraine (CIG4U). This collaboration is facilitating the establishment of the Ukrainian Transport Support Fund, which is a special format of cooperation within the framework of the International Transport Forum aimed at restoring and modernizing Ukrainian transport infrastructure.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed cooperation within the 'Recovery for All' (RFA) project. This initiative aims to enhance institutional capacity, reform public investment management, and align the strategic planning system with European standards. This is a crucial step towards improving resource management and ensuring effective investment utilization in Ukraine.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Canada and Ukraine are actively seeking practical ways to restore the potential of Ukrainian civil aviation. This reflects the deep collaboration between the two countries and their shared goal of rebuilding Ukraine after the war.
Thus, Canada's support in various areas, including energy, transport, and infrastructure, is a vital element in the recovery process of Ukraine, especially in light of contemporary challenges and threats.
