Government to Fund Construction of Alternative Routes to Danube Ports and Moldova

The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine has announced significant steps to enhance transportation infrastructure towards the Danube ports and neighboring Moldova. Plans include the construction of alternative routes to improve logistical resilience in these regions.

The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine has announced important steps that will be taken to improve transportation infrastructure towards the Danube ports and neighboring Moldova. According to the ministry, the plan includes the construction of separate infrastructural solutions that will not only ensure the establishment of a backup road connection but also significantly strengthen the resilience of transportation and logistics communication in these regions.

One of the key projects is the construction of alternative routes near the bridge in the settlement of Mayaky. This bridge sustained severe damage at the end of 2025 due to shelling by the Russian Federation, which significantly complicated transportation links in the region. The restoration and modernization of this infrastructure facility is a priority for the Ukrainian government.

Additionally, plans are underway to equip a bridge crossing at the Yampil – Koseuts checkpoint in the Vinnytsia region. This step is also crucial for ensuring uninterrupted communication between Ukraine and Moldova, which will promote the development of economic relations between the two countries.

As previously reported, 22 billion hryvnias have already been allocated from the state budget for priority measures to implement resilience plans in the regions. These funds will be directed towards improving infrastructure and ensuring the safety of transportation routes. The ministry is actively seeking additional funding to implement these projects, which are extremely important in the face of modern challenges.

Overall, these initiatives are part of a broader government strategy aimed at improving infrastructure and strengthening economic stability in Ukraine. Given the importance of the Danube ports for the country's foreign economic activity, the implementation of these projects could significantly impact the development of the region and enhance the efficiency of transportation logistics.
