Ivano-Frankivsk Receives Nine New Domestic Trolleybuses

Ivano-Frankivsk has welcomed nine new trolleybuses produced domestically, marking a significant step in the modernization of the city's public transport system.

Ivano-Frankivsk has received nine new trolleybuses manufactured in Ukraine, which is part of the implementation of the "Urban Public Transport of Ukraine" project. This was reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, as conveyed by the information agency Ukrinform.

According to the ministry's information, the new trolleybuses are set to commence operations on city routes starting April 6. This initiative represents a crucial phase in modernizing the city's transport infrastructure, aligning with contemporary standards of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.

The upgrade of the rolling stock was made possible through the support of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Union, which actively promote the development of urban transport in Ukraine. The new trolleybuses were ordered by the municipal enterprise "Electroavtotrans" of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, while the supplier is the Ukrainian manufacturer LLC "Zavod Elektronmash," located in Lviv.

The cost of the new trolleybuses amounts to 3.5 million euros. These electric vehicles are capable of operating not only under the contact network but also autonomously, thanks to built-in high-capacity battery packs that can provide a range of up to 140 kW. This feature allows the trolleybuses to navigate around obstacles and operate in areas without a contact network.

Additionally, the new trolleybuses are equipped with energy-efficient heating and air conditioning systems, enhancing passenger comfort. The delivery of these trolleybuses is part of a large-scale program to renew urban transport in Ukraine, initiated by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.

Since the beginning of the project under this program, 83 trolleybuses, 43 trams, and 70 buses have already been delivered to cities across Ukraine, reflecting the government's active efforts to improve transport infrastructure.

Furthermore, the Ivano-Frankivsk trolleybus fleet of KP "Electroavtotrans" recently received a 16-meter MAN trolleybus from partners Pro Obus Salzburg, as well as a Skoda 24 Tr trolleybus from Czech partners in the city of Jihlava. Currently, approximately 70 trolleybuses are in operation on the routes in Ivano-Frankivsk, ensuring convenience and accessibility of public transport for the city's residents.
