Italian Bill Proposes Incentives for Fishing Nets to Protect Ukraine from Drones

The Italian Parliament is currently reviewing a new bill that seeks to bolster Ukraine in light of the increasing threat from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This proposed legislation offers financial incentives for the production of fishing nets that can be repurposed for defensive applications.

According to the initiative, Italian fishermen will have the opportunity to receive subsidies for manufacturing nets that can be utilized to create barriers against drones. The authors of the bill assert that these nets could serve as an effective means of protecting critical infrastructure in Ukraine, including energy facilities, ports, and other strategic locations.

The bill, which has garnered support from the government, also envisions collaboration between Italian fishing associations and Ukrainian military forces. This partnership aims to ensure that the fishing nets meet all safety requirements and can be rapidly deployed in Ukraine.
