Iran and the United States Continue Tense Dialogue Through Pakistan, Tehran Unwilling to Capitulate Under Pressure — Reuters

Iran and the United States are engaged in ongoing communications mediated by Pakistan, yet Tehran remains steadfast in its refusal to show flexibility as Washington insists on capitulation under pressure.

Iran and the United States are continuing to exchange messages through intermediaries in Pakistan, but Tehran has made it clear that it has no intention of yielding as Washington continues to demand capitulation under pressure. This information comes from a high-ranking source in Iran, as reported by Reuters.

The source indicated that Qatar conveyed a message from Tehran to Washington and other regional countries on Monday, April 6. This message warned that in the event of a U.S. attack on Iranian power plants, 'the entire region and Saudi Arabia will plunge into complete darkness due to Iran's retaliatory strikes.' This statement underscores Tehran's serious intentions to protect its infrastructure.

The source also emphasized that the U.S. is eager to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but Tehran is not prepared to do so in exchange for empty promises. The interlocutor warned that 'if the situation spirals out of control, Iran's allies will also close the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait,' which could lead to severe consequences for international maritime shipping.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned that the United States could strike Iranian power plants, bridges, and other infrastructure if Tehran fails to reach an agreement or reopen the Strait of Hormuz. On April 5, Trump stated that Iran has until Tuesday at 8:00 PM Eastern Time to finalize a deal, which corresponds to 3:00 AM on April 8 in Kyiv.

In response to these threats, Tehran declared that if the United States conducts further strikes on Iranian infrastructure, 'the gates of hell' would open for the U.S. and Israel. According to CNN, Tehran also noted that it would fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz only after compensation for the financial damages inflicted on the country due to the war.

On April 6, Axios reported that the U.S. and Iran are discussing the terms of a potential 45-day ceasefire through intermediaries, which could lead to a final resolution of the conflict. However, on the same day, Reuters cited sources indicating that Iran rejected a proposal to end the war with the U.S. and Israel, which included Tehran's agreement to unblock the Strait of Hormuz as part of the ceasefire.

Subsequently, CNN reported that Trump did not support the plan presented by the intermediaries. On April 6, the White House chief stated that Iran could be destroyed in one night, adding that this moment could arrive as soon as Tuesday. On April 7, Trump hinted that Iran might come under attack that night. On the social media platform Truth Social, he wrote that 'a whole civilization will perish,' highlighting the seriousness of the threat posed by the United States.

Thus, tensions between Iran and the United States continue to escalate, and the international community is closely monitoring developments in the region, as any military actions could have serious implications for global security.
