Iran Allows Iraqi Vessels to Use the Strait of Hormuz

Iran has made a significant decision to permit Iraqi vessels to navigate the Strait of Hormuz, marking an important step in the economic relations between the two countries. This information was confirmed by Bloomberg, which noted a statement from an Iranian military spokesperson.

According to Ukrinform, Iran has decided to allow Iraqi vessels to use the Strait of Hormuz, which has been described as a crucial development in the economic ties between Iran and Iraq. This announcement was confirmed by the Bloomberg agency, which highlighted that a military spokesperson from Iran made the relevant statement.

The military spokesperson emphasized that 'brotherly Iraq is free from any restrictions that we have imposed on the Strait of Hormuz.' This statement reflects Iran's special relationship with Iraq, which it considers an ally, in contrast to 'hostile' states for which, according to Tehran representatives, the strait remains closed.

This decision could significantly impact the volumes of Iraqi oil shipments, potentially increasing them to 3 million barrels per day. However, an Iraqi official expressed caution, noting that the usefulness of this exemption will depend on the willingness of shipping companies to take risks by entering the strait to collect cargo.

At this point, it remains unclear whether this exemption will apply to all Iraqi oil or only to tankers owned by Iraq, as well as how it will be implemented in practice.

Additionally, it is worth noting that earlier, the Iraqi Ministry of Energy announced the resumption of Iranian gas supplies, which had been halted following an Israeli strike on Iran's main gas field, South Pars. This incident occurred on February 28, when the United States and Israel conducted joint strikes on regime facilities in Iran.

In response to these actions, Iran attacked American bases located in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Jordan. These events underscore the tension in the region and the importance of controlling strategic waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz.

The situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz is critically important for the global economy, as a significant portion of global oil shipments pass through it. Iran, as one of the key players in the region, continues to actively influence this situation, seeking to strengthen its position by supporting its allies, such as Iraq.

In light of recent events, it is essential to monitor the developments in the region and the potential consequences for the global oil market. Join our channels on Telegram, Instagram, and YouTube to stay updated on the latest news.
