Ukrainian company Interpipe, owned by prominent businessman Viktor Pinchuk, has announced the successful completion of an agreement with multinational corporation ArcelorMittal to acquire the ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Roman S.A. plant located in Romania. This acquisition marks a significant step for Interpipe as it strengthens the company’s manufacturing base within the European Union.

According to reports, all customary closing conditions have been met, including the receipt of necessary antitrust approvals and foreign direct investment permits from Ukrainian and Romanian governmental authorities. This demonstrates Interpipe's serious intentions and readiness to expand in the European market.

The AMTP Roman plant is a well-known manufacturer of seamless steel pipes, supplying its products not only to consumers in Europe but also beyond. As stated in the company’s announcement, Interpipe plans to integrate this asset into its operations to expand production capabilities, enhance supply chain efficiency, and provide greater added value to its customers.

Founded in 1951, the Roman plant is one of the largest producers of seamless steel pipes in Romania. It specializes in manufacturing pipes with diameters ranging from 168.3 mm to 406.4 mm, which are used in energy, construction, and industrial applications. The plant’s products are also utilized for pipelines in both onshore and offshore projects, as well as for the production of casing and tubing (OCTG) for oil and gas extraction.

This agreement is not the first of its kind. In December 2025, Interpipe had already concluded a deal to acquire a tubular plant in Romania from ArcelorMittal. Additionally, it is worth noting that the Metinvest group, owned by Rinat Akhmetov, closed a deal with ArcelorMittal on December 16, 2025, for the acquisition of a tubular plant in the Romanian city of Iasi, marking Metinvest’s first production site in Romania.

Interpipe is a Ukrainian industrial company specializing in the production of steel pipes and railway products. The company’s products are supplied to over 50 countries worldwide, and its total workforce numbers approximately 9,500 employees. The ultimate owner of Interpipe Limited is Viktor Pinchuk and his family members. This acquisition underscores Interpipe’s ambitions to expand its influence in the international market and strengthen its positions in Europe.
