Preparing Proposals to Strengthen Security Guarantees - Zelensky

In his evening video address, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the country is actively preparing proposals to strengthen security guarantees in cooperation with the United States. This issue has become particularly pressing in light of the ongoing war with Russia, and according to the head of state, security guarantees are crucial for achieving lasting peace.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is formulating its proposals regarding the enhancement of the relevant security guarantees document, which is a significant step in negotiations with the American side. He noted, "We are currently working very specifically on documents with the American side," indicating Ukraine's serious intentions in this area.

The President highlighted that security guarantees are a key element for a genuine end to the war and for establishing long-term peace in the region. "This is generally about creating a political and legal situation where the war can be concluded, and where people can have trust in the process," he remarked, underscoring the importance of trust in diplomatic relations.

Zelensky also expressed hope that international partners would listen to the Ukrainian side and that negotiations would continue productively. "It is important for partners to hear the Ukrainian side, and that we continue to move forward productively in negotiations," he added, noting that the success of diplomatic efforts will determine the future development of the situation.

The President of Ukraine also touched upon the issue of distrust in diplomacy, which, according to him, exists not only in Ukraine but also beyond its borders regarding the war with Russia. "There is currently a lot of distrust in diplomacy – and not only here – concerning Russia's war against Ukraine," he noted, emphasizing that the outcome depends on the efforts of all participants in the diplomatic process.

"And we are actually contacting the American side every day at various levels to ensure a result," Zelensky stressed, demonstrating the active role of Ukrainian diplomacy in seeking solutions to end the conflict.

It is worth recalling that in January 2026, a document regarding security guarantees between Ukraine and the United States was prepared, reflecting the duration and seriousness of the negotiation process. This document could serve as a foundation for further actions and ensuring stability in the region.
