Journalists in the Kyiv Post newsroom in the city center reported several loud blasts and the distinct sound of air defense systems intercepting drones overhead. A Kyiv Post correspondent working remotely in the Solomianskyi district said he heard a powerful explosion and saw a plume of smoke from his window. After stepping outside, he saw debris from a drone strike scattered across a local cemetery opposite a kindergarten. Officials said at least one additional Shahed-type drone was recorded in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Air defense activity was also reported in the Obolon district. “Air defense forces are operating in Obolon. Stay in shelters,” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said in a statement. Klitschko added that falling drone debris in the Shevchenkivskyi district caused a car collision on one of the streets. No immediate reports of casualties were released. Earlier, monitoring channels warned that several Russian strike drones were approaching Kyiv and the surrounding region from the northeast.
