Erdogan to Putin: It is Important that Peace Efforts Face No Obstacles

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized the necessity of ensuring the uninterrupted advancement of efforts aimed at peacefully concluding the war between Russia and Ukraine in a recent statement.

In a statement released by the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish presidency, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan underscored the importance of ensuring that efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the war between Russia and Ukraine proceed without hindrance. This information was reported by Ukrinform.

Erdogan highlighted the critical need for all parties to refrain from actions that could lead to further escalation of tensions in the region. He stressed that such actions could negatively impact stability, particularly in light of attacks on civilian vessels in the Black Sea, which, according to the president, undermine the overall tranquility in this vital maritime area.

Furthermore, the Turkish leader expressed concern regarding the ongoing conflict in Iran, stating that it should not create new hotspots of conflict in the region. Erdogan made it clear: "Turkey does not approve of attacks against Iran, just as it does not support corresponding actions by Iran against countries in the region... Contacts continue with all parties to prevent further escalation of the conflict, aimed at achieving peace and stability."

This statement by Erdogan is part of a broader discussion regarding bilateral relations between Turkey and Russia, as well as regional and global issues that require urgent resolution. Turkey, strategically positioned between Europe and Asia, plays a vital role in peacekeeping efforts, especially in the context of the conflict in Ukraine.

It is worth noting that on April 1, Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov held a meeting with the heads of ministries and an advisor to the Turkish president, during which the progress of the negotiation process and the issue of returning Ukrainians held in Russian captivity were discussed. This meeting underscored the importance of international cooperation in addressing the humanitarian aspects of the conflict.

Thus, Turkey's position, as articulated by Erdogan, reflects the country's commitment to maintaining stability in the region and promoting peaceful resolutions to conflicts that arise in the modern world. It is crucial for all members of the international community to work together towards a common goal—peace and security in the region.
