Dzyvinka Havrylyshyn Leads Ruslan Malinovskyi onto the Field Against Albania
Thirteen-year-old Dzyvinka Havrylyshyn made a memorable appearance on the pitch before the match between Ukraine and Albania, which ended in a 1-0 victory for the Ukrainian team. Accompanying her was national team midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi, as reported by the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF).
On the pitch of the 'Ciutat de Valencia' stadium, 13-year-old Dzyvinka Havrylyshyn stepped onto the grass before the kickoff of the match between the national teams of Ukraine and Albania, which concluded with a 1-0 victory for the Ukrainians. This significant event was highlighted by the press service of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF), noting that the girl walked onto the field alongside national team midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi, as reported by the Ukrinform news agency.
Dzyvinka hails from Lviv, but she has been battling congenital myasthenic syndrome since childhood — a rare genetic disorder that affects muscle development and function. For a long time, accurate diagnosis was elusive in Ukraine, and with the onset of war in 2014, obtaining necessary medications became even more challenging. In 2015, the Havrylyshyn family decided to temporarily relocate to Spain, where Dzyvinka gained access to quality medical care.
While in Spain, the girl underwent several crucial surgeries, including the installation of hearing implants that enabled her to hear. She also underwent complex spinal surgery, during which a metal structure was implanted. From her first day of school in Spain, Dzyvinka has been attending a specialized school, and according to her father, she eagerly anticipates each school day.
The Havrylyshyn family also includes Dzyvinka's two brothers: 10-year-old Bohdan and 3-year-old Ivan, who were born outside of Ukraine. To maintain their connection to their native culture, the entire family actively participates in the activities of 'Plast' — a Ukrainian scouting organization. The children have become some of the first scouts in Valencia, where they meet every Saturday to learn about Ukrainian traditions and culture, as well as go on hikes.
10-year-old Bohdan was also among those who led the players onto the field during the match. He walked out alongside Ukrainian midfielder Oleksiy Hutsulyak. Bohdan has been playing football for over six years and plays as a goalkeeper, making this moment even more significant for the family.
For Dzyvinka, stepping onto the field was an incredibly emotional experience. She responded sensitively to the atmosphere of the stadium, the emotions of the spectators, and the events on the pitch. After the match, the girl confessed to her father that she thoroughly enjoyed being part of this important day for the team and the country.
'For her, these are vivid emotions. She feels the atmosphere very keenly — the people, the support, the noise of the stadium. After the match, she said she loved everything, especially the Albanian team's kit! For her, this is an experience she will remember for a lifetime,' said her father, Lyubomyr Havrylyshyn, emphasizing the significance of this moment for their family.
This incident underscores the importance of support and attention to children facing difficulties in their lives. Dzyvinka Havrylyshyn has become a symbol of hope and strength for many, and her story inspires not only Ukrainians but also people around the world.
