A tragic incident in the border areas of the Sumy region has resulted in the deaths of two individuals and serious injuries to two others following the detonation of explosive devices left by Russian troops, as reported by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleg Grygorov.
According to Grygorov's statement, the incident occurred in one of the villages of the Svesa community. Preliminary investigations indicate that yesterday, while extinguishing a grass fire, local residents stumbled upon an explosive device. Unfortunately, as a result of the explosion, a 52-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman lost their lives. Both sustained injuries that were incompatible with life and died at the scene.
Grygorov expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased, emphasizing that such tragedies are the result of the irresponsible behavior of the aggressor, who leaves dangerous items on Ukrainian territory.
Meanwhile, in another part of the Svesa community, two men who were traveling on a tractor along a familiar route also became victims of an explosion. They encountered an explosive device, which preliminary investigations suggest was a bomb dropped by the enemy from a drone. The men, aged 53 and 48, suffered shrapnel injuries and were hospitalized for necessary medical assistance.
This incident underscores the dangers faced by residents of border areas, where remnants of explosive devices can pose a threat to the lives and health of individuals. Authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution and avoid approaching suspicious objects, as well as to report them to the appropriate services.
The Sumy region, like many other areas of Ukraine, continues to suffer from the consequences of the ongoing war. Explosive devices left after hostilities represent a serious threat to the civilian population. Authorities and rescue services are working to clear the territories, but risks remain high.
It is worth noting that such incidents are not isolated. Ukraine has already recorded numerous cases of deaths and injuries resulting from explosives left after military actions. This further emphasizes the importance of safety and caution in such areas, where the likelihood of encountering dangerous objects remains high.
