Bipartisan Senators Demand Explanations Regarding Sanctioned Russians' Visit to the U.S. Capitol

The senators' letter stated, "The delegation arrived in the United States with one purpose: to promote the strategic goals of the Kremlin, including gathering additional useful information." They also claimed that the Duma members are now "aiding Iran in targeting American military and diplomatic personnel across the Middle East."

The visit, which began on March 26, was organized by Representative Anna Polina Luna (Republican, Florida) and included meetings with several other Republican and Democratic representatives. Luna defended the visit on the platform X, stating that as nuclear superpowers, the U.S. and Russia are obligated to their citizens to maintain "open dialogue" and "open channels of communication."

The Kremlin confirmed the visit, stating that the Russian lawmakers aimed to discuss issues related to bilateral relations. Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told AFP that such meetings are important for maintaining dialogue between the countries, despite existing differences.
