Two Men Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Rape and Murder of 16-Year-Old Girl

In a disturbing turn of events in Dnipropetrovsk region, a court has sentenced two men to life imprisonment following a trial that revealed the horrific nature of their crimes. One of the convicted men was found guilty of raping and murdering a 16-year-old girl, while the other was convicted of repeatedly committing sexual violence against his stepdaughters, aged just 7 and 11 years old.

The Office of the Prosecutor General reported on the severity of the crimes that transpired. According to the investigation materials, the first convicted man tracked the 16-year-old girl on September 4, 2023, as she was returning home in the city of Pyatykhatky. He attacked the minor, raped her, and subsequently strangled her. It is crucial to note that the perpetrator was personally acquainted with the girl and her family, which adds a layer of horror to the crime.

The second man, who also received a life sentence, engaged in regular sexual violence, including rape, against his stepdaughters, with the abuse occurring from November 2021 to May 2024. Reports indicate that the 44-year-old man forced one of the girls to engage in sexual acts with her 9-year-old brother, having first intoxicated the boy with alcohol. These appalling actions were recorded on his phone, showcasing his utter ruthlessness and cynicism.

According to information provided by the Office of the Prosecutor General, the man manipulated the children by promising them sweets or allowing them to play outside. At times, he deceived them and forced them to consume alcohol to prevent any resistance on their part. During his arrest, authorities discovered nearly 300 photos and videos containing child pornography, further complicating his situation and underscoring the gravity of his offenses.

In October 2025, the first-instance courts found both men guilty of their crimes and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The appellate court upheld the decisions of the lower courts, confirming the life sentences. Additionally, the court ordered the convicted men to pay moral damages to the victims, marking an important step towards restoring justice for the victims of these horrific crimes.

This case has sparked widespread public outrage, highlighting the severity of the issue of violence against children and the urgent need for harsh penalties for criminals who commit such acts.
