On the evening of April 2, 2023, Kharkiv became the target of a drone attack by Russian occupants, resulting in damage across several districts of the city. While fires were reported at impact sites, no information about casualties has yet emerged.
On the evening of April 2, 2023, Kharkiv became a focal point of aggression as Russian occupants launched a drone attack that affected multiple districts within the city. Reports indicate that fires broke out at the sites of impact, but as of now, there have been no confirmed reports of injuries or casualties.
Kharkiv's Mayor Igor Terekhov provided updates on the situation, stating, "A series of enemy drone strikes have been recorded across the city. Fires have erupted at some of the impact sites." He emphasized that there was currently no information regarding injuries resulting from the attacks.
Subsequently, the mayor clarified that three districts of Kharkiv were directly hit by drone strikes: Novobavarsky, Shevchenkivskyi, and Kyivskyi. This information indicates that the attacks were extensive and covered a significant area of the city, raising concerns about the safety of residents.
It is important to note that just a day prior, on April 1, Russian occupants had already targeted a residential high-rise building in the Shevchenkivskyi district using a combat drone known as Bliskavka. This attack resulted in shattered windows, with the drone striking the ninth floor, injuring two individuals in the process.
The night leading into April 2 was also tense for Kharkiv residents as Russia continued its offensive against Ukraine, deploying strike drones. In Chuhuiv, located in the Kharkiv region, a Russian drone struck a five-story residential building, injuring three people.
On April 2, the occupants launched multiple strikes against Kharkiv. Initially, Mayor Igor Terekhov reported five impacts in the Kyivskyi district, noting that the attacks caused fires, including the ignition of several vehicles. He stated in a Telegram message, "The fifth impact occurred in the Kyivskyi district. It can be confirmed that the enemy targeted a critical infrastructure facility."
However, the mayor later clarified that by the start of the day, there had been six explosions in Kharkiv, indicating a continuation of the attacks by Russian forces. These events underscore the alarming situation in the region, where civilians have once again fallen victim to aggression.
The situation in Kharkiv and other Ukrainian cities remains tense, with local authorities working diligently to ensure the safety of the population. Meanwhile, Ukrainian military forces and emergency response services remain on high alert, prepared for any challenges that may arise from ongoing attacks.
