Russian Drone Attack Strikes High-Rise in Kharkiv, One Civilian Killed in Dnipropetrovsk Region

In a significant escalation of hostilities, Russian armed forces launched a massive drone attack across Ukraine on the night of April 2, resulting in civilian casualties and widespread destruction.

On the night of April 2, Russian armed forces executed a large-scale drone attack across Ukraine, igniting fires in several regions and leaving civilians dead and injured. The assaults spanned from the eastern regions to key port infrastructure in the south of the country, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by Russian military actions.

One of the most striking incidents occurred when a Russian kamikaze drone, known as "Molniya," struck a high-rise residential building in Kharkiv on the evening of April 1. The city's mayor, Ihor Terekhov, reported the incident via his Telegram channel, indicating that the strike took place in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

"The enemy struck a residential building with a combat drone 'Molniya.' The windows in the building were shattered, and information about the casualties is being clarified," Terekhov wrote. He later specified that the drone hit the ninth floor of the high-rise, confirming that there were injuries, although the number and condition of the victims remain unknown.

Shortly after midnight on April 2, the mayor also reported a strike by a "Shahed" drone in the Kyiv district of Kharkiv, noting that a fire erupted at the site of the attack. At 6:55 AM, he announced a fifth drone strike in the same area, stating: "It can be asserted that the enemy targeted a critical infrastructure facility."

Earlier reports indicated that several vehicles caught fire during one of the strikes. At 7:52 AM, Terekhov informed about a sixth explosion in Kharkiv since the beginning of the day, adding that details were still being clarified.

Additionally, as a result of the Russian attack in Chuhuiv, located in the Kharkiv region, two individuals sustained injuries. The State Emergency Service (SES) reported: "During the night, drones of the Russian military attacked the city of Chuhuiv. As a result of the attack, apartments on the second, third, and fourth floors of a four-story building caught fire." The total area of the fire was reported to be 300 square meters.

Preliminary data suggests that two civilians sought medical assistance. This situation underscores the ongoing threat posed by Russian strikes against Ukraine, particularly for civilians who frequently fall victim to such attacks.

These events occur against the backdrop of escalating conflict between Russia and Ukraine, where both sides continue to ramp up military activity. The Ukrainian Armed Forces, in turn, remain committed to defending their territory against Russian aggression.

It is important to note that the international community continues to monitor the situation in Ukraine, calling for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and supporting the Ukrainian people during this challenging time.
