A remarkable event unfolded at the Pysanka Museum, where a silver coin in the shape of a Ukrainian pysanka has been recently acquired, crafted in Canada. Oksana Yasinska, the head of the museum, announced this important addition to the collection and shared insights into its significance.

"Every year, Canada issues silver coins shaped like Ukrainian pysankas. This year, our museum has received the 11th such coin, purchased by Maria Rypan, a cultural ambassador for Ukraine worldwide. She has maintained this tradition, although the coin has yet to be delivered. We already showcase the previous ten coins," Yasinska noted, emphasizing the importance of this initiative for promoting Ukrainian culture abroad.

The new pysanka coin features a floral composition designed by the talented Canadian pysanka artist of Ukrainian descent, Natalia Kit. The coin's design is dedicated to the renewal of nature in spring, symbolizing rebirth and hope, which are particularly significant for the Ukrainian people in light of contemporary challenges.

Yasinska also highlighted that throughout the year, the Pysanka Museum's collection has significantly expanded, acquiring over 200 new exhibits. Among these, one can find pysankas created by artisans from Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Ukraine. A particularly special pysanka was crafted by warrior-master Oleg Kiryashchuk at the front and gifted to the museum last year.

Currently, the museum is hosting an exhibition by the renowned pysanka artist and researcher from Lviv, Vira Manko. The exhibition showcases 700 pysankas that reflect the traditions and styles from all regions of Ukraine, making it a unique and diverse display.

Overall, the collection of the Pysanka Museum comprises over 12,000 pysankas and decorative eggs from various regions of Ukraine and 35 countries worldwide. The oldest piece in the museum's collection is a pysanka made on a goose egg, crafted with natural materials over 500 years ago, highlighting the deep roots and richness of Ukrainian traditions.

As reported by the agency, Canada has issued a silver coin in the shape of a Ukrainian pysanka, further confirming international recognition and support for Ukrainian culture.

The first photos of the new coin were published by the Royal Canadian Mint, which underscores the importance of this cultural object even more.
