Dillian Whyte Aims for Fight with Deontay Wilder: 'I’m Confident I Can Knock Him Out'
British boxer Dillian Whyte (31−4, 21 KOs) has expressed his desire to face renowned American boxer Deontay Wilder (45−4−1, 44 KOs). This announcement comes amid ongoing discussions about the possibility of organizing this long-anticipated bout, which both fighters have been contemplating for years.
British boxer Dillian Whyte, boasting a record of 31 wins and 4 losses, including 21 knockouts, has publicly declared his ambition to fight American heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, who holds a record of 45 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw, with an impressive 44 knockouts. This statement has surfaced against the backdrop of prolonged conversations regarding the potential matchup, a fight that both boxers have been discussing for several years.
The 37-year-old Whyte, who has faced defeat at the hands of boxing luminaries such as Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, emphasized that his desire to meet Wilder remains steadfast. In an interview quoted by Bad Left Hook, Whyte stated, "I think he still has a lot of strength left, but in boxing, timing often decides everything. I believe our fight would be very good because if he is going all 12 rounds with Derek at his age and with a Derek who is already very, very 'worn out,' then I can definitely knock out Wilder."
Whyte further underlined his confidence in his ability to defeat Wilder, asserting, "I have always believed that I can knock him out. He is the only guy I have always been sure I could do this to. I have always believed this and still do — and I would love to get the chance to prove it."
It is important to note that Whyte's last fight took place in mid-August 2025, where he suffered a knockout loss in the first round against Moses Itauma. On the other hand, Deontay Wilder secured a victory against Derek Chisora by split decision on April 4 of this year in London, reaffirming his status as one of the strongest heavyweights in boxing.
Additionally, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk has long expressed a desire to fight Wilder. However, it has recently come to light that Usyk ultimately decided to face kickboxer Rico Verhoeven, a move that surprised many boxing fans.
Thus, the situation surrounding a potential fight between Whyte and Wilder remains tense, with boxing fans eagerly awaiting news on whether these two athletes will finally meet in the ring. The anticipation for this bout continues to build, as both fighters have significant stakes in proving their prowess in the heavyweight division.
