Ukrainian Transport Agency to Oversee Repair of Frontline Roads – Syvyrydenko
The State Special Transport Service of Ukraine (SSTSU) has been assigned the critical task of restoring roads in frontline areas and regions within 40 kilometers of combat zones, as announced by Prime Minister Yulia Syvyrydenko.
The State Special Transport Service of Ukraine (SSTSU) is now responsible for the restoration of highways in frontline territories, as well as in zones located within 40 kilometers of the line of combat. This significant announcement was made by Prime Minister Yulia Syvyrydenko on her Telegram channel.
According to a recent government decision, the SSTSU will become the sole contractor for works and procurements related to the current repair and maintenance of roads in combat zones and their immediate vicinity. This means that the agency will be able to respond swiftly to the needs for infrastructure restoration, which is critically important for supporting military operations, evacuating the wounded, and supplying necessary resources.
Yulia Syvyrydenko emphasized that the government’s decision will allow for the initiation of work in priority areas where restoration measures are most urgently needed. She highlighted that these zones experience active military movements and the evacuation of the injured, making them particularly vital from a security and logistics perspective.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister underscored that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will determine the list and priority of works that need to be carried out. This will enable the concentration of efforts on the most critical sections that require urgent repair. Work will begin immediately after the approval of this list and the assessment of damages, which will allow for an evaluation of the scale of the necessary restoration measures.
It is important to note that the restoration of roads in frontline areas is not only an infrastructure issue but also a matter of security. Quality roads ensure quick access to medical facilities for the wounded and facilitate the effective supply of military units. Therefore, timely completion of repair works can significantly impact the course of combat operations and the overall situation in the region.
The Ukrainian government continues to take measures to improve the situation at the front, and the new powers granted to the SSTSU are part of a comprehensive approach to ensuring stability and security in the country. In wartime conditions, where every day can be decisive, it is crucial to have a reliable infrastructure that supports military and humanitarian efforts.
