Derek Chisora Comments on Oleksandr Usyk's Desire to Avoid Fight with Moses Itauma

Former heavyweight title contender Derek Chisora has shared his thoughts on Oleksandr Usyk, the current WBA, WBC, and IBF champion, suggesting that Usyk is reluctant to step into the ring with rising star Moses Itauma due to financial considerations.

Former heavyweight title contender Derek Chisora has expressed his views on Oleksandr Usyk, the reigning champion of the WBA, WBC, and IBF in the heavyweight division. Chisora believes that Usyk is hesitant to face the promising boxer Moses Itauma, as such a match would not yield sufficient financial gain for him.

The British fighter, who boasts significant experience in professional boxing, emphasized that the Ukrainian boxer is undoubtedly a smart individual. "Usyk is a clever guy. You don’t make money where there isn’t any. Don’t forget that the Saudis are no longer on friendly terms with Frank Warren. So who is going to pay for this? Uncle Frank is going to give Usyk $50 million for a fight with Itauma? No, he won’t. So who does he need? He needs a billion dollars, which he is trying to get from Turki Al al-Sheikh to promote his fight," Chisora stated in his interview.

Chisora also shared his opinion that Moses Itauma, currently one of the most promising boxers, should fight Michael Hunter next. "Moses is doing great. I think he should fight Michael Hunter in his next bout. That’s a good fight," he added, commenting on potential matchups for Itauma.

It is worth noting that Oleksandr Usyk himself has previously expressed a lack of desire to fight the young boxer. The Ukrainian superstar of the heavyweight division explained his decision by stating that he does not want to "break the career" of 21-year-old Moses. Usyk believes that a fight with Itauma may not be the best decision for the young boxer, and therefore he has no intention of stepping into the ring with him.

Furthermore, it is known that Itauma himself does not believe in the possibility of a match with Usyk, as he considers him to be "old." This indicates that the young boxer has his own ideas about how his career should develop and may not want to take the risk of facing an experienced champion.

Usyk's next fight is scheduled for May 23 in Giza, Egypt, where he will meet kickboxing legend Rico Verhoeven. This matchup promises to be intriguing, as Usyk aims to showcase his skills on the international stage.

Recall that on the night of March 29, Moses Itauma achieved an impressive victory by knocking out American Jermaine Franklin in the fifth round. This highlights his growing popularity and potential in the boxing world; however, the question of a fight with Usyk remains open.

Thus, the situation surrounding the potential bout between Usyk and Itauma continues to spark interest among boxing fans, and Derek Chisora's comments add new dimensions to this ongoing discussion.
