The governor of the Lipetsk region said one person was killed and five others were injured in the incident. One of the injured remains in critical condition, according to regional authorities.
JSC Energia specializes in the production of chemical power sources , including batteries used in the defense industry, civil aviation , maritime transport, and the energy sector. The company also manufactures batteries for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) , as well as for aviation and naval applications.
Kyiv Post reported a previous strike on the facility in February 2026, when the Ukrainian partisan movement Atesh carried out a sabotage operation that destroyed a communications tower involved in transmitting data, security , and military training to the Russian army.
An earlier attack was also reported in January 2026 where the territory of CJSC GATP-2 (Cargo Transport Enterprise No. 2) was targeted.
Russian authorities have not provided further details on the cause of the latest incident or confirmed whether the plant itself sustained damage.
