Will the Fight Between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua Happen?
Promoter Eddie Hearn has responded to recent claims by Kalle Sauerland regarding a potential fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua this fall in Dublin, firmly denying any such arrangements.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has expressed his views on Kalle Sauerland's recent statement suggesting that a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could take place this autumn in Dublin. Hearn categorically refuted this information, emphasizing that there is currently no signed contract or even final terms agreed upon for the match.
According to Hearn, the situation appears to be that there is no agreement between the parties involved. “There is absolutely no truth to this. There is absolutely no agreement between AJ and Fury. No contract has been signed. There is no agreed venue. Absolutely nothing is in place,” he stated in a comment to Boxing UK.
Hearn also added that discussions took place last week among him, Anthony Joshua, Dr. Rakan, and Turki Al al-Sheikh regarding a possible fight. “We are very interested in this match, and I think there is a strong likelihood that it will happen,” the promoter emphasized.
He further indicated that Joshua is likely to have another fight first, but there is currently no agreement on the venue. “I sent a message to Kalle Sauerland: ‘Thank you very much, mate. What the hell are you talking about?’ And he just didn’t know how to respond. Sorry. Unfortunately, that’s not true,” Hearn added.
Moreover, Hearn discussed whether Dublin is being considered as a potential venue for the Joshua vs. Fury fight. “It’s one of, it seems, half a dozen options, depending on what is available. Of course, there’s Wembley. Croke Park is an incredible venue. There’s Riyadh, there’s America, but, you know, we don’t even have a contract or a proposal for a contract regarding the date, the venue; we have nothing. Just conversations about how we will get to this fight,” he concluded.
Currently, Tyson Fury is preparing for his next fight, scheduled for April 11 in London against Russian fighter Mahmoudov. Fury last stepped into the ring in December 2024, when he suffered his second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. In January 2025, he announced his retirement from boxing, but by early 2026, he made a return to the sport.
On the other hand, Anthony Joshua fought his last match in December 2025, securing a victory over Jake Paul by knockout in the sixth round. Following that, Joshua took a break after being involved in a car accident in Nigeria, which tragically claimed the lives of two of his trainers.
Recently, Tyson Fury confirmed his readiness to fight Joshua after his bout with the Russian, sparking a new wave of discussions among boxing fans and experts alike.
