Blogger Dasha Yevtukh and Her Husband Oleksandr Hlazov Face Criticism After Fundraising for Damaged Home
Dasha Yevtukh, a popular blogger and participant in a culinary show, along with her husband, blogger Oleksandr Hlazov, has come under fire following their announcement of a fundraising campaign to restore their home, which was damaged during a Russian shelling on April 1.
Dasha Yevtukh, a well-known figure in the blogging community and a contestant on a culinary show, has found herself at the center of controversy alongside her husband, fellow blogger Oleksandr Hlazov. The couple recently announced a fundraising initiative aimed at restoring their home, which suffered severe damage due to a Russian artillery strike on April 1. This announcement has sparked outrage among some social media users, who claim that the Yevtukh family did not actually reside in the damaged property but rather rented it out.
On April 1, around 3:00 PM, an explosion rocked the Poltava community as an air raid alert was issued for the area. Vitaliy Diakivnych, the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, reported that several private homes, outbuildings, and vehicles were damaged when a Russian drone fell in the community.
Among the properties affected was the home owned by Dasha Yevtukh's family. The couple's decision to launch a fundraising campaign for the restoration of their residence elicited mixed reactions from the public. Some users on social media accused the bloggers of failing to support fundraising efforts for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and claimed that they were not living in the damaged house.
In response to the backlash, Oleksandr Hlazov took to social media to clarify the situation. In a video, he explained that the damaged property is the only asset owned by their family. He stated that he, his wife, and their daughter currently reside in a rented accommodation, while personal belongings were left in the damaged house. Oleksandr also mentioned that during the attack, the older son of their tenants was present in the house and sustained minor injuries, for which he received on-site medical assistance. According to the blogger, the tenants are now residing in a dormitory provided by the city council.
On April 2, Oleksandr Hlazov recorded another video featuring a woman who allegedly rented the house from them. In this clip, they clarified that there are two separate fundraising campaigns: one for the family of the bloggers who owned the property and another for the family that rented the house. They also indicated that debris removal was taking place at the site on that day.
It is important to note that the April 1 strike in Poltava resulted in injuries to six individuals, including three children aged 10, 13, and 17. Rescue workers managed to pull one person from the rubble, while five others received assistance on-site, and one woman was hospitalized. This incident underscores the critical need for support for those affected by the war and highlights the necessity for a cautious approach to fundraising in such complex situations.
