Lava Drone Battalion Transforms into Regiment within the 2nd Corps of Ukraine's National Guard Charter

The Lava Drone Battalion, which has proven its effectiveness in combat, has officially been elevated to a regiment within the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine Charter. This move signifies a strengthening of military units that actively utilize modern technologies in the fight against aggression.

The Lava Drone Battalion, which has established itself during combat operations, has now become a regiment within the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine Charter. This news was confirmed by the press service of the Charter, indicating a further enhancement of military units that actively employ modern technologies in their efforts against the aggressor.

The order to create the new regiment was signed by Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, highlighting the significance of this step for national security. The press center noted that the reorganization of the unit aims to increase the number of crews, expand operational directions, and enhance the impact of drone systems on the operations of the entire corps. This reflects a strategic approach to the use of drone technologies in modern warfare.

Corps Commander Ihor Obolensky emphasized that such changes have already demonstrated their effectiveness, particularly in halting the frontline in the Kharkiv region. He also noted that the new organizational structure creates conditions for conducting operations in the Kupiansk direction, which is crucial for stabilizing the situation in the region.

Senior Lieutenant Volodymyr Mirchuk has been appointed as the commander of the new regiment, having led the Lava Battalion since its inception. This appointment signifies trust in his professional qualities and experience in managing a unit focused on drone technologies.

The Lava Battalion was formed in the autumn of 2025 as part of the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine Charter. The servicemen of this unit work with various types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as well as ground robotic complexes. This allows them to perform a wide range of tasks, from reconnaissance to direct participation in combat operations.

The crews of UAVs and ground robotic complexes within the Lava Regiment are actively carrying out combat tasks in the Slobozhansky direction, particularly in the vicinity of Kharkiv. This underscores the importance of utilizing cutting-edge technologies in modern warfare, where drones have become an indispensable tool for achieving military objectives.

Thus, the transformation of the Lava Battalion into a regiment is a significant step in the development of the National Guard of Ukraine, reflecting the adaptation of military structures to the new challenges faced by the country amid war. The use of drone technologies not only enhances the effectiveness of combat operations but also provides new opportunities for strategic planning and task execution on the front lines.
