Earlier, the head of the city’s military administration, Serhiy Lysak, said on Telegram: “Unfortunately, we have six dead... Lysak later clarified that the death toll had risen to seven, and subsequently confirmed eight fatalities. “We have just learned about the eighth death after this difficult night in Odesa. Condolences to the family and loved ones. Also, 16 people were injured as a result of the attack,” he said . According to Lysak, infrastructure facilities and a residential building in the Khadzhibeyskyi district were damaged, while the blast wave shattered more than 300 windows in surrounding buildings. Damage was also reported in one of the parks in the Primorskyi district. Emergency services are working at the scene. Later, Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper reported that port, critical, and residential infrastructure were damaged in the overnight attack. “Facade walls and glazing were destroyed in at least three high-rise buildings. A dormitory and adjacent structures were also damaged. As a result of strikes on certain infrastructure facilities, fires broke out. Efforts to deal with the aftermath are ongoing,” Kiper said. Notably, on the evening of April 15, Russian troops launched strike drones over Ukraine, some of which reached Odesa. The impact struck the upper floors, damaging apartments on the 5th to 7th floors. A fire broke out following the strike, engulfing part of the building. Rescue services quickly arrived at the scene and began responding to the aftermath of the attack. The fire was localized, and efforts to fully extinguish it continued. Lysak later reported that one of the victims had died – doctors did everything possible, but the injuries were incompatible with life. He added that total number of injured was six. The Air Force provided its daily report covering the period from 7 a.m. on April 15 to 7 a.m. the following day. “During this period, the enemy carried out two waves of combined attacks on the territory of Ukraine using ground- and air-launched missiles, as well as strike drones,” the report reads. In total, Air Force radio-technical troops detected and tracked 703 aerial targets: 19 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles; 20 Kh-101 cruise missiles; 5 Iskander-K cruise missiles; 659 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas UAVs and other types of drones. According to preliminary data, as of 7:30 a.m., air defense systems had shot down or suppressed 667 Russian targets: 19 Kh-101 cruise missiles; 8 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles; 4 Iskander-K cruise missiles; 636 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of UAVs. Hits by 12 missiles and 20 strike UAVs were recorded at 26 locations, while debris from intercepted targets fell at 25 locations. Information regarding one cruise missile is still being clarified.
