According to an analysis by the Russian publication Astra, based on photographs and videos obtained from local residents, the strike targeted the Bashneft-Novoil oil refinery, which is part of the Rosneft company. This facility is known for producing high-octane gasoline, motor and industrial oils, aviation and jet fuel, diesel fuel, bitumen, and other petroleum products.
The processing capacity of the refinery is approximately 7.3 million tons of oil per year. The Ukrainian monitoring channel CyberBoroshno, referencing available video footage, noted that the attack likely occurred near the AVT-5 unit, which is the main processing unit of the refinery. This detail underscores the precision and intent behind the strike, aiming to disrupt significant oil production capabilities.
