This latest attack in the Donetsk region adds to a rising civilian death toll from Russian strikes across Ukraine this weekend. Earlier on Sunday, two men – aged 48 and 72 – were killed in a drone strike in the Bilopillia community of the Sumy region , less than 5 km from the Russian border. Overnight, Russian forces launched 144 drones of various types, including Shaheds, Gerberas, and Italmas, across the country. While Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 124 of those targets, 19 drones struck 11 separate locations, including an infrastructure facility in Dnipro that caught fire late Saturday night. These incidents follow a major coordinated aerial campaign on Saturday involving 666 missiles and drones, which left at least eight people dead nationwide. The regional prosecutor’s office has opened a pre-trial investigation into the Kramatorsk shelling as a war crime under the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
