“I would say that the truce is based on an artificial life support system,” he said.
The US president reiterated that any agreement with Iran must include a commitment that Tehran abandon its nuclear ambitions, calling his own approach straightforward.
“I have a plan -you know, it’s a very simple plan. I don’t know why you don’t call a spade: Iran can’t have nuclear weapons,” Trump said.
He dismissed Iran’s recent response to US proposals as “unacceptable” and “stupid,” indicating that significant gaps remain between the two sides despite ongoing diplomatic contacts.
Iran’s proposal, released Sunday , called for an end to hostilities across multiple fronts, including Lebanon, where Israel continues fighting Iran‑backed Hezbollah forces.
It also demanded war compensation, reaffirmed sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, and urged the US to lift sanctions , end its naval blockade, provide security guarantees, and remove restrictions on Iranian oil exports.
Trump proceeded to accuse Iran of backtracking on previous understandings, particularly regarding the handling of enriched uranium stockpiles.
