A major from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was detained on Tuesday on suspicion of passing classified information to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).
According to Ukraine’s Office of the Prosecutor General, the suspect – an SBU major working in one of the agency’s regional departments – used her official access to collect and transfer restricted information to her Russian handler.

In its press release , the office said the officer passed information about SBU personnel involved in operational and counterintelligence activities, as well as details about facilities under investigation or surveillance.
The agency said the information was transmitted via Telegram between October 2025 and April 2026, also accusing the suspect of using her father, who lives in Russian-occupied territory, to communicate with Russian intelligence services.
Prosecutors said the leaked information could have been used by Russia for intelligence gathering, sabotage and efforts to undermine the SBU’s counterintelligence operations.
The officer was detained on Tuesday and is expected to face charges of high treason committed under martial law. Prosecutors will seek pre-trial detention as the investigation continues.
