Ukraine’s General Staff said on Tuesday, May 5, that a series of strikes on Russian oil infrastructure in Tuapse caused more than $300 million in direct damage, plus significant economic losses due to lost export revenue.
According to the statement , combined strikes carried out by Ukraine’s Defense Forces throughout April and on May 1 targeted both the port infrastructure and the Tuapse oil refinery, a key facility on Russia’s Black Sea coast.

The General Staff said the attacks resulted in significant economic losses and disruptions to Russian energy operations.
Ukrainian forces have targeted Tuapse multiple times in recent weeks , focusing on degrading Russia’s oil refining capacity.
On May 1, Ukraine carried out another drone strike on the Tuapse marine terminal – the fourth attack on the site in two weeks. The strike triggered a fire, with Russian authorities deploying more than 100 personnel to contain it.
Earlier strikes on April 28 and in mid-April caused large-scale fires at the refinery , prompting evacuations and raising concerns about environmental damage. Russian officials reported that dozens of fuel storage tanks were affected, with some destroyed and others damaged.
Satellite imagery and open-source analysis suggested that several large storage tanks – each with capacities of up to tens of thousands of cubic meters – were hit, leading to oil spills and contamination risks along the Black Sea coast.
