Zhukov will now oversee issues related to the police’s involvement in wartime efforts, the minister said. His duties as head of the patrol police will be temporarily performed by his deputy, Oleksandr Fatsevych. Klymenko said disciplinary action had been taken following an internal investigation, with officials removed from positions up and down the chain of command, from unit leadership to the head of Kyiv’s patrol police. Zhukov stepped down after public criticism of two patrol officers who were filmed leaving the scene during a shooting in Kyiv on April 18, while civilians, including an injured child, remained at the site. The incident occurred in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district and left seven people dead and at least 14 wounded. On Monday, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said one of the wounded later died in the hospital after being in critical condition.
