Drones attacked Moscow and Russia’s Rostov region overnight, while explosions were also reported in Yaroslavl, where a fire broke out at an oil refinery, according to monitoring channels and Russian officials.
The first drones were reportedly detected on the evening of May 7. Russia’s aviation agency later introduced flight restrictions at Moscow’s Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Russian air defenses had shot down drones approaching the capital.
Monitoring channels also reported explosions in the Russian city of Yaroslavl. Preliminary reports said the Yaroslavnefteorgsintez oil refinery was hit, with a fire breaking out on the facility’s territory.
Videos circulating online showed smoke rising above the plant.
Rostov was also reportedly targeted in the drone attack.
The strikes came after President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia had violated the “silence regime” announced by Ukraine from the start of May 6 and warned that Kyiv would act symmetrically.
On Monday, Zelensky announced the introduction of the ceasefire regime, which was due to begin at exactly 00:00 on Wednesday. Russia did not respond to the proposal and continued hostilities and attacks on Ukraine.
