It is a matter of principle for us to return everyone from Russian captivity.” The President expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian units on the front lines for replenishing the “exchange pool,” which facilitates such swaps. He also thanked international partners for their mediation efforts in what remains one of the few functional areas of cooperation between Kyiv and Moscow during the full-scale invasion. This latest release follows a series of successful exchanges in early 2026. In March, a major two-stage swap mediated by the United States saw 500 Ukrainians return home. Earlier, in February, another 157 personnel were recovered . The major logistical operation to receive the returnees includes immediate medical attention, as many of those released are reported to be wounded. Following their arrival, the soldiers and civilians will undergo comprehensive rehabilitation.
